bio-met is a collaborative initiative led by the International Copper Association, International Zinc Association, the Nickel Producers Environmental Research Association (NiPERA), the International Lead Association, and the Cobalt Institute. The tools and resources on bio-met.net have been developed collaboratively by ARCHE Consulting and wca environment.

The latest version of bio-met (v6) was released in March 2026.

bio-met is designed to be a multi-metallic tool, therefore, the addition of further metals would be welcomed. The bio-met principles document (150401-Biomet-principles), has been drafted by the founding members.
